Celebrating Oliver

On Sunday July 5th our Oliver James was blessed by his daddy... it was such a special day! His arrival gives us much reason to celebrate... he is so loved...

It was an intimate setting and felt very special to bless Oliver in our home surrounded by those who love us most... Our Family! Glen gave Oliver a wonderful blessing and I was overwhelmed with gratefulness for this special baby and the sweet spirit he brings to our family.

Afterward We celebrated our happiness for Oliver's new life with a little party and
dinner in our backyard.

Me and my "assistant" and best friend... I could have never pulled off this celebration without Glen's powerful lungs (nearly 100 balloons!) Math skills, muscles, PATIENCE and unyielding support of my crazy ideas. Um, he's a keeper!

Oliver is a little young but I'm pretty sure he knew this was his party....

He was so content all day, just a perfect little gentleman.
Everyone made a fuss over him and he loved all the attention...

oh, how we love our Oliver
Thanks to my mom and dad who helped do EVERYTHING to make this day perfect from planning, to cleaning my house, making lists, laundry, babysitting, set up.... even some last minute yard work! I am so lucky to have them just around the corner. I am grateful that they get to love Oliver everyday.
Life is all about family.

Thank You to everyone who has shown their love and excitement for us and our new little Oliver. In the few short weeks since his arrival we have been overwhelmed with love and support, phone calls, gifts, meals, messages and thoughts of love for us. We are truly blessed!

Oliver James... he's absolutely perfect, a dream come true!

In Love...

Oliver is two months old already??...
the past two months have been a whirl wind... full of adjustments, little sleep, discoveries, newness for everyone and you know what... we did it! Not only did we get through, I can honestly say that we have all loved every minute... well maybe not Gabe at first, but he is in love like the rest of us now! I love newborns and am sad because I am starting to feel that stage slipping away. I feel like I can do more things... life is running pretty smoothly except, Glen does all of our shopping... The thought of Walmart with four boys terrifies me... but I will get there I'm sure! I have figured out Oliver's needs and he is full of trust. He recognizes us and likes to be held by Evan and Eli. He blinks a lot and startles when Gabe gets too close. He likes his mama best, he smiles and has started gooing when I talk to him. He watches me all day long turning his head to see where I am. If he can't see anyone for awhile he starts to whimper calling us back to him. He listens for Glen's voice and holds very still when he hears him. He doesn't cry much because the boys run to his rescue as soon as he makes a peep. He has changed so much and is growing fast... yet he is still so little... He is such a good baby. yes, we are in love.

look how cute this little o shaped mouth is that comes each time he yawns... awwwww
I love to see him studying his daddy. He wants to tell us all about heaven and his big plans here I can tell by the sparkle in his eyes that he has lots of ideas....

What a little dream boat....He is the best and I cannot get enough of my Ollie

Proud to be an American

IMG_9506

I am Proud...
that I love being a mother
that I married the right person
that I have freckles
that my siblings and my parents are my best friends
that I do not work outside my home
that I have an education
that I love living in cache valley
that I am a mormon
that I am me

I am proud to be an AMERICAN. The freedoms that I have been given are what make me who I am today. I am so grateful to the men who founded this great land, and to all those who have fought and lost their lives for our freedom! I am so blessed and I know that I take for granted the day to day rights and freedoms that I have... I am grateful that I have never had to experience living without freedom.

When I was in fourth grade we learned some patriotic songs for a concert and I remember feeling butterflies as we stood up for the chorus and sang "I'm Proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free...." I still get butterflies when I hear that song, the national anthem and when crowds stand placing hands over hearts in respect for our flag... my eyes fill with tears every time. I hope that my boys learn to have a deep love and respect for this land and that I can teach them about it's history and power. I hope that I can do better at showing the appreciation and love that I feel for my country in little ways everyday... What a blessing it is to live in America, land of the free home of the brave!

By the way...Don't you just love that picture above of my FOUR boys... I can' t believe they are mine....

anyway, on to the celebrations...

I am in love with fireworks and try to hit as many shows in a summer as possible. We went out to Hyrum early in the week for their town celebration. We sat so close to the fireworks that we had ashes and bits of fireworks falling on us. It was pretty exciting! Eli was is awe and decided that pieces of firework are a real treasure! He gathered lots and lots of pieces so that he could add them to his "special box" (what is that? you ask, well one afternoon the boys painted wooden boxes with a lid that locks, in hopes to keep some of their "special things" safe from Gabe....) The Hyrum fireworks are pretty impressive... some of the best, in my opinion... Gabe kept saying "oh, the fireworks scare me" but as he said it he giggled with a big grin on his face and was dancing around... he is a nut!

On July third my big extended family met on the lawn to watch the Logan city fireworks. We shared treats and conversation then oohed and awed at the fireworks as we listened to the patriotic music blaring from my uncle Kevin's battery powered radio. The songs were not that great this year... and the fireworks seemed far away... but it was still fun! Next year we are definitely going inside the stadium. I know my boys will love that!

The morning of the fourth I awoke to a very quiet house... I thought I remembered hearing the front door open and close a few times but brushed it off as being part of an early morning dream... It was not a dream. Evan woke up early hoping that we were going to a parade. He shook Glen and asked if we were going... Glen said no. So Evan called my parents and asked them if they were going to the parade, hoping that he could go with them I guess?... my mom told him that the parade had already started and it was too late. I'm sure she could feel his disappointment seeping through the phone. Because she is one of the best grandma's on the planet, she asked him if he had eaten breakfast yet. He answered no. So she said you call me when Eli and Gabe wake up and I'll come and take you all to breakfast. She figured they would not wake for awhile at least... but just a few short minutes later... her phone rang and on the other end was Evan... telling her that the other boys were awake. I'm sure he woke them up, he was so excited! My mom and dad came straight over and kidnapped my boys in their pajamas with barefeet and took them to McDonalds for breakfast! I found a note on the counter... it read- "GONE!!!!! We are at MD's with grandma and grandpa" be back soon. love, the boys. My parents are pretty amazing huh? It was a dream come true for three little boys that's for sure! Later that afternoon we decided we had better celebrate the fourth somehow... so we went to a different (later) paradeand then straight home to spruce up the yard for Oliver's celebration (I will be posting about that soon... I hope!) After lots of yard work... we were all exhausted. We decided to throw some burgers on the grill anyway, after all, it was the fourth of July, gotta have a BBQ right? So I called my parents and they came over to join us and after a delicious picnic they helped us do more yard work!! then they took Evan and Eli to my aunt's house for a firework show on her driveway. It was a full day... full of FUN and lots of work too! When I tucked my boys in bed that night we talked about freedom and America and they drifted off to dream land as we named our many blessings... My heart was proud

and happy.

How did I get so lucky?

King Of The Babies

This is what the King of the babies does on a warm summer afternoon...

IMG_9467

It's good to be King.

LOADS of fun... but not really

My least favorite job is doing the laundry... sorting, loading, unloading, folding, hanging, pairing... JUST to do it ALL OVER AGAIN... and AGAIN... and AGAIN! All housework is a never ending feat, I know... but laundry is just the worst! I used to have a few "wash days" a week that I dreaded. Now it seems that I am doing laundry EVERY day! With four DIRTY little boys...and the littlest seems to be the worst, it is relentless! Evan and Eli's socks have to go straight into a sealed container... they are toxic!

I remember this family in our neighborhood while I was growing up who had five boys!! They drove one of those dreaded "super vans" you know the kind with the curtains, a million plush seats and multi colored pinstripes and waves on the paint job.... ya well, inside the van it was SO stinky... we all thought the poor mom must have felt like she was driving around a big sneaker! I don't want to gross people out with "stinky boys"... I think my boys are too cute for that... but oh man, their feet stink... So, laundry I must do!

I dread laundry... but Gabe and Eli sure like piles of it!
Gabe's favorite thing to do is grab my perfectly folded piles of clothes and throw them...
he is a huge help around here.... ha ha check out Gabe's "outfit??"It was one of "those days" ...guess I didn't get to the laundry soon enough for him to have some real clothes to wear. Although I know the laundry needs to be done everyday... I can't seem to get on top of it...
I'm starting to think that maybe I never will?....

Nine o' clock

Every evening around nine o' clock this is what I get to do...

They look innocent enough,
but you should see the ring around the tub that these two leave!

Oliver loves to bath!
He has started to kick his legs in the water and he doesn't even mind too much
when Gabe rinses his hair with a little too much water....
I don't think anything smells better than my babies fresh out of the tub.

I really love nine o' clock
