Farewell Summer

Saturday was so cold here in Lehi! It rained most of the day -and here- it's not just regular fall down from the sky rain- Oh no!!... there is usually at LEAST a 10 mph wind blowing everyday, and when a storm kicks up- the wind increases in speed! So on Saturday rain was coming down in every direction!!! That was bad enough ...and then it started SNOWING!!! It looked like December! I know it is officially Fall, but now it really feels like it! ...So... Farewell Summer... We had a really great Summer filled with lots of change, lots of family, and lots of fun! Just wanted to share some of the highlights....

We moved into our new place from Logan to Lehi the first weekend in June (Gabe was just 3 weeks old!) My mom stayed with us for two weeks and helped us get completely unpacked. She is amazing! She took care of the boys, bathed Gabe everynight, got up early in the morning with them so I could sleep in, cooked dinner, and got my house completely organized! I cried the day she left- ALOT!! ...But just a week later we went back to Logan to celebrate the fourth of July! Both of my sisters (Sara and Julie) came into town with their kids for the summer. We all had babies within 6 months of each other and it was so much fun to see them all together! We blessed Gabe on Sunday July 22nd- the weekend they arrived. Then we all headed up to Logan to stay at mom's for about 4 weeks! We stopped at the "This is the place" monument in SLC on our way to Logan and once there we celebrated Pioneer Day (the kids dressed as pioneers and marched in the North Logan parade), Evan and Eli took Swimming lessons with my sisters kids- Claire and Grant. We went on many picnics to the local parks, enjoyed the beautiful canyon, went to Tony Grove, had lots of extended family BBQ's, went to the Logan Aquatic Center, rode all the rides at the Cache county Fair, and were able to get together with some friends too! I can't believe we did all THAT...together 24/7 with no husbands, all our kids, and three babies!!! And we all still like each other!!! Seriously- We really did have a blast- We counted down the hours until bedtime for the kids, looking forward to some "girl time"...when it finally came- most nights we were so exhausted we fell asleep as we sat around talking! I love my mom and my sisters so much- they are my best friends! We were also able to see most of Glen's family at some point during the Summer which was great! We had some fun outings at Thanksgiving Point (Glen's parents gave us a family pass!) and were also able to do a little exploring of the new area! It was one of the best Summer's ever! and also one of the hardest to see come to an end...

We love our Grandma's and Grandpa's...sooo much!!

I am not sure if today is the official holiday or not, but today my kids are celebrating "Grandparent's Day" at school! So... Happy grandparent's day!! I didn't know that there is an official holiday for grandparents, I am so glad that there is! The past few weeks Evan and Eli have been practicing (over and over...)the songs that they have been learning for the grandparent program at school . We ALL have them memorized now!- the other day I caught myself humming the tune to one as I swept the kitchen floor!! ( annoying!) Anyway just recently we talked about family history for FHE- So we've been thinking a lot about the legacy that our grandparents and many many previous generations of grandparents have given us! What a blessing, to have such wonderful loved ones to look up to and to learn from! I am so grateful that my boys are able to spend time with their grandparents. I know that I take for granted the fact that we live so close to ALL of them- it is a HUGE blessing! I am so thankful for the memories that I have of my grandparents while growing up, and that I am still able to make memories with them now! I know my relationship with them is a big part of who I am today! I am so thankful that my children are able to build memories, play with, learn, interact, and be loved by grandparents !!! - Their influence is tremendous! I hope that we can continue the wonderful legacy we have been given- We love you!!!

" Little Grandma Evans" (my Dad's mom)that's what Evan started calling her when he was about two. She may look little but she sure has a big heart and strong spirit! I miss my grandpa Evans and I know she does even more, but she is strong and happy, always always positive! One of the greatest ladies I know.



Grandpa Kim (my dad) He especially loves babies and has a gift for getting them to sleep (dancing to the beat of really great -sometimes loud-music!) He is very generous and thoughtful! He always finds special and unusual trinkets to surprise the boys with! He plays games and builds castles and is a great referee (8 grandsons, says it all!) He loves to learn and takes the time to teach. He loves children and has a tenderheart!


Grandma Karen (my mom) I could write pages about her!... She is one of my best friends! I love how she misses my boys and worries about them. She plays with them and teaches them things that I forget too. she taught Evan how to sew a button on! She lets them bake with her and makes up the BEST stories. Whenever we stay at her house she tucks the boys in and lays with them until they are asleep(But first there is giggling, story telling, back scratching etc...) She helped me so much through the past few rough months (my husband gone a lot, new baby, new job, packing, moving, new house, unpacking...etc!) She is my mom- the worlds best!

Great-Grandpa Murray (my mom's dad) met the boys almost everyday this summer in his workshop and helped them build! They made airplanes, bug boxes, rockets, and swords. He is very patient and has a way of making you feel really special! He taught me all that I know about wildlife and the great outdoors! I have many memories as a little girl fishing and camping, and hiking with grandpa. Grandpa took me snow skiing my first time. I remember being pretty nervous about getting off the lift but he took my mind off of it when he pulled an orange (my favorite) out of his pocket and we shared it on the way up the mountain! Grandpa is always interested in what we are doing and loves to listen! I love his potatoes cooked right in the fire- black as coal and delicious inside!


Great-Grandma Murray (my mom's mother) Her house is one of my favorite places to be- lots of memories made there! She always makes everybody feel welcome! She tells lots of stories and makes me laugh! I remember really feeling special when I was little because Grandma always told me I was beautiful- She still does! She kisses my boys and says they smell good! She has an incredible memory and tells lots of stories about us growing up! She writes in her journal- I love that! She is really brave (no numbing at the dentist!) and such a hard worker! I love everything she cooks! Especially her homeade donuts! She is such an incredible lady. I 'm so blessed that she's my grandma!

Grandpa Paul and Grandma Shirlene (Glen's parents) are generous and always willing to help anyone! I love the twinkle is Grandma 's eye when she gets excited about something! She plays the wii with all the kids and cheers for them while they swim in their condo pool. I love how supportive they are! they travel long distances to be there for special events in the lives of their family! Grandpa is always working on projects and can fix anything! He grills really great hamburgers and I am always impressed that he does the dishes after every meal! We have had lots of fun times sitting around the big Huber table playing card games. I love their traditions and seeing how important Family is to them!

Great-Grandma Andersen (Glen's mom's mother) lives in Arizona, so we don't get to see her as often as we would like to! I love her stylish clothing and beautiful white hair! She has great jewlery- very classy lady! I love how she speaks her mind and isn't afraid to be who she is. She is a strong lady, I really admire her devotion to her family! She works in the temple and is very dedicated. I love that she is competative when it comes to card games and it's just best if you let her win! (sorry no picture of Grandma Andersen in our digital folder)

One of the best inventions... seriously!

Last week we went to Evan's Soccer game. We were running kind of late (like always!) but made it just in time for the kick off. Glen was filling in for the coach and I was trying to help, it was a little hectic! Gabe kept fussing and I finally realized that he was hungry! I opened my diaper bag to retrieve my bebe au lait nursing cover and realized that in the rush to get out the door, I didn't grab it! So I figured, "ok, I see other girls nurse their babies under a blanket, I can just do that." WRONG!! I tried to throw the blanket over my shoulder- if the wind didn't blow it off then Gabe pulled it down! I finally resorted to holding the blanket with my teeth! Gabe was crying, wondering what was going on! Just as I sort of had it figured out, something startled Gabe and and we had to start the whole process over. Gabe could hardly breath with the thick blanket totally covering him. He was all sweaty- and so was I- not only that but I'm sure I flashed several people in the process! It was a joke!!- I don't know how other moms do that??- I guess they think they have no other option. I NOW know that this is one of the best things ever invented for moms! "Thank you" to my sister Sara, who is always up on the latest trends and baby products, for giving me my favortie baby gift ever!!- Bebe au lait! After that experience I made a promise that I would never leave the house without it again and that I would tell everyone I know who is pregnant or nursing that it is a must have!! What a conveneince to have a neck strap,-(no hands, or teeth needed!) it's light weight- like a sheet,and check out the cute funky fabric to choose from! The best part is the hidden wire in the front that holds the cover away form your baby's face and gives you -and only you- a great view of your baby while they nurse! So pass it on and give them away as gifts...lets get real- blankets used as nursing covers are ridiculous and once you've used a bebe au lait you'll wonder like I did-
"why didn't I think of this? - it's the best invention ever!"

Four month stats...

I took Gabe to in for his four month check-up on Friday. I really like the new pediatrician we chose. His name is Dr. Whiting. The office is just five minutes down the road. It is brand new and very nice! -seperate entrances for sick and well appointments, very clean and wonderful staff! It's always nice when people who see lots of kids all day still make a fuss over yours, your know? So I am excited that is was a good experience! Finding new Doctors is scary! Anyway...here are little Gabriel's stats... He weighs 14 pounds!! (Evan was 16 pounds at TWO months!- so Gabe seems a little shrimpy!) which is in the 30th percentile. His height is in the fiftieth percentile, head circumference is in the 30th percentile. So he is pretty average for a four month old! other than his looks of course...We think he is definatley the cutest four month old we've ever seen! It's nice to know he is growing and developing and everything looks good! We started to feed him rice cereal last week! His little tongue just pushes it right back out- so we'll give it a few days and keep trying! It is getting a lot easier to get him to laugh! He loves Evan and Eli and gets very excited when he sees them from across the room! He is starting to squeal and talk very loud, he is so strong, and loves to grab his toys! He used to sleep really good but lately- that is not the case...who knows???? We sure love our little guy and are so blessed that he is healthy!

BIRTHDAY BOY!

We Huber's have some Birthday traditions... they include... lots of decorations- streamers and balloons inside and outside the house, the Birhtday boy/girl gets to choose a Birthday theme, each meal for the day, and they get out of all jobs! Cakes are made by Dad(unless of course it's his Birthday!)and we do Birthday kisses- not spanks! Evan chose an army/G.I. Joe theme so he woke up to camoflauge colored streamers and balloons! He chose blueberry muffins and bacon for breakfast. After breakfast he opened his presents. His favorite presents were a dreamcast game system (this was also Glen's favorite present!!!!!),his own scripture set and case, and some G.I Joe guys! Evan chose Sloppy Joes for dinner- made by grandma Karen, because hers are "better than mom's." And All three of the boys worked on the battlefield cake! (Sometimes I think Glen has a little too much fun with those cakes!) After dinner we had all of the family members who live close (Grandma and Grandpa Huber, Eric, Emily Ruth, Weston, Harmony, Will, and Aunt Sarah)over for Cake and Ice cream! It was a great Birthday weekend and Evan claims "One of the best Birthday's Ever!" We love you Ev!

BIRTHDAY PARTY

I asked Evan if he wanted to have a birthday party this year. He said yes and seemed really excited. So I asked him who he wanted to invite...He opened his mouth to tell me but then was quiet...thinking...and then he said "I don't have any friends here...I guess I'll have to have a family party this year." I felt so bad! Since we moved in he has of course made lots of little friends in the neighborhood. But I know how he feels! It takes awhile to find real connections (at least it's a little easier for kids!) anyway so grandma and grandpa (my parents) came down from Logan to be here and they joined our family birthday party Saturday night at Boondocks!!My parents took care of Gabe while we raced in the go-carts (Glen and Evan ate our dust!-Eli and I definately won!), played miniature golf, (Evan got a hole in one!) and won lots of tickets in the arcade! We ended the night with pepperoni pizza! Oh what a party!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Our Evan is 8 years old! It's hard to believe it's been eight years since we, as first time parents who weren't sure what to do -brought that little bundle home from Logan Regional Hospital! Evan is pure joy! We are so proud of who he has become! He was born a sweetheart Here are just a few words that sum him up... considerate, smart, playful, confident, caring, sincere, funny, polite, helpful, brave, tenderhearted...We sure love Evan and are so blessed to have him in our family! His birthday was Sunday September 16th! We celebrated the whole weekend...

Technical difficulties

My cute polka dot background ended up not really working... so my blog is temporarily( hopefully) a really boring beige color! As soon as I get a minute I am going to add some more posts and try to download some cute backgrounds! So bear with the beige and keep checking back!

Giggling Gabriel John

I wanted to take this blogging thing slow and go in order of the events of the past six months. Our family has had lots of changes- to say the least, but I just can't resist this one... Out of order. Here is Gabe giggling with his daddy-absolutely the cutest thing I've ever heard! I keep watching it over and over and am so thankful for technology- it lets us hold on to precious little moments like this! (filmed Sept. 12th -4 months old)

A little bit about us...

Glen and I have been married for...well I don't think I will disclose that information- it makes me feel old! Yet at the same time in today's world it is probably considered a real accomplishment- something to be proud of...although how hard can it be? Being married to my best friend, someone who is practically perfect in every way!(I stole that one from Mary Poppins!) So here goes... We have been married for 10 years!!! We have three adorable boys. Evan (7) Elijah (5) and Gabriel (4 months). I am definately "boy trapped" at least that's what Evan tells me! But you know, I wouldn't have it any other way! I sure love all these boys!!

Look...I'm blogging!!!

I can't believe that I actually have a blog!!! I have been wanting to do this for awhile- but its intimidating because everyone else's blogs look so cute and time consuming and it seems like you have to be really good with computers and that you have to be really creative! I don't have much of the things mentioned above... But then I decided.. (with lots of coaxing from my baby sister Julie!) why not? I'll give it a try! So here it is... the Huber Family Blog...
